How to Change the Pump Oil on a Comet 5030 Pressure Washer Pump.
Tools and materials needed:
- New oil (Comet recommends using their own brand of oil, but any high-quality detergent oil will do)
- Funnel
- Oil drain pan
- Wrench
- Rags
Instructions:
Before starting the oil change take the Pressure washer unit to a suitable place and wash the pump. Pay attention to the oil filler cap area and the oil drain plug. Once the pump has dried continue on.
- Make sure the pressure washer is turned off and water feed hose disconnected.
- Disconnect the high-pressure hose from the pump.
- Locate the oil drain plug on the bottom of the pump and clean around it if it’s dirty.
4. Place the oil drain pan underneath the drain plug.
5. Use the wrench to remove the oil drain plug.
6. Allow the old oil to drain into the pan. Make sure the pump is on level ground and let if drain for about 5 minutes or until the dripping has stopped.
6. Once the old oil has drained, clean the drain plug with a lint free rag, also clean the drain plug hole. Now replace the drain plug and tighten it with the wrench.
7. Locate the oil fill cap on the top of the pump.
8. Remove the oil fill cap.
9. Use a funnel to add new oil to the pump. The pump fills up quickly and takes a few seconds to level out. Best to fill the pump in small Intervals to avoid over filling. The pump is full when the oil reaches the red dot on the sight glass. If you do overfill the pump use a large syringe to suck some of the oil out.
10. Replace the oil fill cap.
11. Reconnect the high-pressure hose to the pump.
12. Start the pressure washer and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new oil.
13. Check the oil level again and add more oil if necessary.
14. Turn off the pressure washer and you’re done!
